Trio Attracts Elmhurst Cops' Suspicion

They were found with ski masks and tools and their license plates were covered up, police say.

ELMHURST — Elmhurst police were called to the 400 block of North Addison Avenue about 1 p.m. Thursday because of a report that three people were acting suspiciously, a police report says. The officer performed a traffic stop and found their car's original license plates were covered by license plates that were registered to another car.

The officer also found items inside the car that could be seen as suspicious — two ski masks, a hammer, a screwdriver and a Channellock tool, according to the police report. The three people were brought to the police department for further investigation, but they were released without charges "at this time," the report said.
