Two Elmhurst Students Awarded National Merit Scholarships
Two Elmhurst students have been awarded college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships.

ELMHURST, IL — Two Elmhurst students have been awarded college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced approximately 3,500 winners of National Merit scholarships sponsored by colleges and universities. According to the organization, officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the 2018 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution.
The two Elmhurst students are:
- Matthew Dardick, York Community High School. Probable career field: Music. Dardick was awarded the National Merit Northwestern University Scholarship.
- Nathaniel Yurschak, Timothy High Christian School. Probable career field: Biochemistry. Yurschak was awarded the National Merit Grinnell College Scholarship.
These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship, according to the organization. Sponsor colleges and universities include 100 private and 78 public institutions located in 44 states and the District of Columbia.
