Here's what's going on in Elmhurst on Veterans Day.

ELMHURST, IL — Veterans Day this year is Saturday, Nov. 11. Several events will be held in Elmhurst to honor those who have served. Since the day falls on a Saturday this year, schools will not have a day off, and village offices will not have a day of observance.
What's Open? What's Closed for Veterans Day?
- Banks: Most are closed. Call your bank if you're thinking of stopping by.
- Post Offices: Closed
- Federal Offices: Closed
- Trash Pickup: Normal
- Most restaurants will be open, some will offer discount to active military personnel and veterans.
Veterans Day Ceremony

- Elmhurst will honor veterans in a special ceremony on Veterans Day. The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Veterans Memorial in Wilder Park.
Elmhurst College Band, American Legion Tribute
- The Elmhurst College Wind Ensemble and American Legion T.H.B. Post 187 will join forces on Nov. 11 to present a Veterans Day tribute. The event, to be held on the Elmhurst College campus, will include patriotic music selections, an American Legion Color Guard and guest speakers, and is intended to become a community-wide Veterans Day tradition.
Veterans Storytelling

- Elmhurst's storytelling event will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17 at the American Legion, 310 W. Butterfield Road in Elmhurst. The Elmhurst Public Library and American Legion Post #187 will host the Veterans Storytelling Event.
