York High School Honored at Sustainable Design Challenge
York High School in Elmhurst was honored in several categories, taking four out of six prizes.
ELMHURST, IL - DuPage County and SCARCE have announced the winners of its 2017 Sustainable Design Challenge. The challenge is held each year to encourage local schools to explore sustainable building and landscaping topics with students.

- Overall LEED Design Renewable Energy Fan Club #18, Wheaton Warrenville South HS: Missy Kraman, Nick Mentzer, Matt Mentzer, Eva Peak, and Rachel Diomar.
- Honorable Mention Team Green #26, York HS: Annalise Soldano, Mollie Grasse, Evan Haug, Nick Soldano.
- Best Stormwater Design Team Win #25, York HS: Jack Chlystek and Gavin Vandenberg.
- Honorable Mention Goatmeal of Lombard (#2), Glenbard East HS: Nicholas Colangelo, Gwendolyn Merrick, Renata Leighton.
- Best Energy Efficiency Design Green-Shirtified #28, York HS: Cate Ayers and Siva Sreedhar.
- Honorable Mention Ross & Lukose Designs #24, York HS: Leena Lukose and Abigail Ross.
An awards presentation will be held at the beginning of the DuPage County Board meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9. It is held in the DuPage County Board room at the administration building, 421 N. County Farm Road. The awards presentation is open to the public.
