York High School to Shave Heads for St. Baldrick's Foundation
York Community High School will host a St. Baldrick's Foundation pep rally at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24.

ELMHURST, IL- York Community High School will host a St. Baldrick's Foundation pep rally at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24 in the Green and White gym.
The district said that staff and students have raised over $15,000 in pledges to support childhood cancer research. The original goal was $10,000, but the stakes were raised and support escalated when Assistant Principal Ryan Doherty and York grad announced that he would lose his long locks if donations topped $15,000.
Others who have agreed to be shorn for the cause are: staff member Joseph O'Malley, staff member Drew McGuire, Chris McCoy, staff member Detective Dan Corrigan, staff member Kevin Poduska, Jason Butterfield, staff member Michael DiNovo, staff member Dustin Felix, David Avello, Charles Cote, parent Steven Strauss, Carter Strauss, Alex Baker, Dylan Green and Glory Jacquat.

"I would also like to recognize Samantha and Amanda Neely, who are not shaving their heads, but who have organized their own fundraisers to raise over $2,000 for the cause," said organizer and York High School Spanish teacher Joe O'Malley in a release. Assisting with coordination of the March 24 event are York secretaries Kelly Corry and Bridget Baker.
