York Students Place In SkillsUSA National Competition

York High School was represented by Mike Falco, Joey Gemini, Jeremy Olson and Matthew Shepherd at the SkillsUSA national competition.

ELMHURST, IL — York High School was represented by Mike Falco, Joey Gemini, Jeremy Olson and Matthew Shepherd at the SkillsUSA national competition held this summer in Louisville, Kentucky. Industrial Arts teacher Ron Robak served as their coach, according to a release from the district.

Following are the categories and placements for each:

  • Michael Falco - sixth in nation - Collision repair technology
  • Joey Gemini - 12th in nation - Technical Drafting CAD
  • Jeremy Olson - 24th in nation - Auto service technology
  • Matthew Shepherd -11th in nation - Screen printing technology

Lastly, Michael Falco, a '17 grad, took first place at state, both his junior and senior year at York, and took sixth nationally both last year and this year, resulting in a full-ride scholarship to Universal Technical Institute in Lisle, according to a release.
