Another Perfect Score for Local Businesses on Tobacco Checks

The Evanston Police Department's most recent tobacco compliance sting resulted in complete compliance.

EVANSTON, IL - Police in Evanston performed another compliance operation at area businesses, making sure they are all checking for identification and refusing to sell tobacco products to those under 21.

And once again, none of the 32 businesses tested failed the sting.

The Evanston Police Department does not release the names of the businesses who pass the operation, only identifying those who were found to not be in compliance.

Police used people between the ages of 16 and 19 to walk into the stores and request to but tobacco products.

"The police department would like to recognize the merchants for their diligence in properly verifying the age of individuals attempting to purchase tobacco products," the police department wrote in a news release.
