Bank Robber Strikes Evanston Wells Fargo
Police are searching for a man who robbed a bank on Howard Street Thursday morning and fled on foot.

EVANSTON, IL — Police are searching for a bank robber Thursday morning near the border of Evanston, Skokie and Chicago. Shortly before 10:30 a.m., a man entered the Wells Fargo Bark at 2289 Howard St., implied that he had a weapon and demanded money, police said.
The man passed a note to a pair of tellers that said he was armed and had arrived to rob the bank. The tellers handed over some cash and the man ran out of the bank. He was last seen running westbound toward McCormick Avenue.
The robber was described as a man between 5 feet, 4 inches and 5 feet, 7 inches tall, in his 20s and black or Hispanic, with a slim build. He was wearing a black Nike baseball cap and a blue shirt over a red shirt, police said.

No one was injured in the incident, and the Wells Fargo planned to reopen after 1 p.m., according to police. An increased police presence in the area of Howard Street and McCormick Boulevard was anticipated as officers searched for a suspect.
