Battery, Failure To Register Charge For Evanston Man: Blotter

Smashed windshields, a strongarm robbery and drug arrests are included on the Evanston Police Department blotter from Oct. 13 - Oct. 19.

EVANSTON, IL — The following information comes from the Evanston Police Department as a record of those arrested by police and incidents reported to police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

GARAGE BURGLARY
Someone kicked in the door to a residential garage in the 1000 block of Sheridan Road between 8 p.m. on Oct. 12 and 8:50 a.m. on Oct. 13. Nothing was reported stolen.

SHOPLIFTING
Someone stole alcohol around 6 p.m. and stereo equipment around 9:30 p.m. from a store in the 1600 block of Sherman Avenue on Oct. 12. Alcohol was reported stolen again at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 13.

STOLEN CAR
Someone stole a silver Subaru from the 1200 block of Sheridan Road between midnight and 8:15 a.m. on Oct. 13.

FELONY THEFT
Someone stole wallet with credit cards and computer hardware from different rooms inside a single-family home in the 1100 block of Foster Street between 11 p.m. on Oct. 13 and 1:40 p.m. on Oct. 14.

HOME BURGLARIES

  • Someone got into an apartment in the 1100 block of Garnett Place through an unlocked door between 2 and 3 a.m. on Oct. 14 and stole computer hardware.
  • Sometime between 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 13 and 10 a.m. on Oct 14, someone got into an apartment in the 1100 block of Foster Street through an unlocked door and stole cash, credit cards and computer hardware.
  • Someone cut a screen to gain entry to an apartment in the 2500 block of Prairie Avenue between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 and stole a computer.
  • Someone got into an apartment in the 2100 block of Ridge Avenue around 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 and stole a gaming system or accessories.

ROBBERY
A cell phone and cash were stolen around 6:52 p.m. on Oct. 14 in a strong arm robbery after a person was confronted in an alley off the 2600 block of Ridge Avenue.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone smashed a window to a Toyota parked in a driveway in the 1800 block of Wesley Avenue between 10:15 and 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 and stole office equipment from inside.

DEFACEMENT
Graffiti was found at the cemetery in the 300 block of Chicago Avenue around 10 a.m. on Oct. 15.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Windshields were smashed on two cars in the 1100 and 1200 block of Leonard Place between 9:40 and 10 a.m. on Oct. 15.

STOLEN DELIVERIES

  • Collectibles and various pieces of merchandise were stolen around 8:50 p.m. on Oct. 15 on the common area of an apartment in the 1700 block of Oak Avenue.
  • A garbage can was stolen around 1:38 p.m. on Oct. 16 from the 1600 block of Ashland Avenue.
  • Baby products were stolen shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 from a single-family home in the 1700 block of Darrow Avenue.
  • A delivery was stolen around 2:30 p.m. from a single-family home in the 2000 block of McDaniel Avenue.

ARRESTS

Idalmi J. Guzman, 41, of the 2700 block of West Harrison Street in Chicago, was arrested around 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 12 in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue and charged with retail theft.

Dennis O. Wallace, 20, of the 100 block of Elmwood Avenue in Evanston, was arrested around 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 12 in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue and charged with battery.

Herman Townsell, 51, with no listed address, was arrested at the Evanston Police Department around 2:15 p.m. on Oct. 12 and charged with battery.

Philip J. Steik, 33, of the 1600 block of Sierra Highlands Drive in Plainfield, was arrested around 3:21 p.m. on Oct. 13 in the 1300 block of Rosalie Street and charged with DUI.

Tenzin L. Langchung, 43, of the 6400 block of North Leavitt Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. on Oct. 14 in the 400 block of Asbury Avenue and charged with DUI.

Joshua A. Rios, 21, of the 400 block of North Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested around 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 14 in the 500 block of Dempster Street and charged with DUI.

Nolan D. Mason, 38, of the 1800 block of Lake Street in Evanston, was arrested shortly after 1 p.m. on Oct. 15 in the 1400 block of Florence Avenue and charged with battery. He was also charged with failing to properly register as a convicted sex offender. State police records indicate he was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual assault of a 13-year-old when he was 24, and was listed as non-compliant with registration requirements at an address in Pembroke Township.

Darius A. Newman, 20, of the 200 block of Hartrey Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at his home around 6:37 p.m. on Oct. 15 and charged with manufacture of delivery of cannabis.

Kahlil A. Travis, 20, of the 1100 block of Darrow Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at his home around 4 p.m. on Oct. 16 and charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to delivery.

Augustin K. Tronou, 23, of the 7400 block of North Winchester Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 5 p.m. on Oct. 16 in the area of Ridge Avenue and Washington Street and charged with possession of an unspecified quantity of cannabis.

Jaalen J. Banner, 20, of the 2000 block of Brummel Street in Evanston was arrested on the morning of Oct. 17 at the Skokie Courthouse and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Steven L. Boyd, 43, of the 8200 block of Knox Avenue in Skokie, was arrested on the morning of Oct. 17 at the Evanston Police Department and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Matthew P. Wilczenski, 44, of the 1100 block of South Highland Avenue in Arlington Heights, was arrested shortly after 3 p.m. on Oct. 17 at the Evanston Police Department and charged with two counts of criminal damage to property.

Joshua H. Reizner, 36, of the 2800 block of West Lunt Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 5:41 p.m. on Oct. 18 at his home and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Michael E. Thomas, 61, of the 7400 block of North Claremont Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 6:41 p.m. on Oct. 18 in the 2400 block of Main Street and charged with battery.
