"Sending a form off to the IRS with a stack of hard-earned cash (well, ok.. it was a check) doesn’t sound like most people’s idea of a good time, but it felt great to me. My eyes watered a little in the sun on leaving. Thanks to an amazing volunteer board of directors, family and friends, we pulled together the money and the energy to get us to this point.

A volunteer with the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Evanston is sharing stories about people involved in the charitable event. , we hear about Allison, a high school student and participant in the Relay For Life.
"Allison says she "continues to participate in Relay each year because it is a life-changing event that brings together people of all ages, races, genders and cultures." Since participating in Relay she has a whole new outlook on cancer. She doesn’t only see it as a devastating life-changing disease but as a journey that requires hope and gives loved ones the opportunity to fight back!"
Allie Payne is an Evanston realtor (as well as the co-founder of , which Patch profiled last month). In , she wrote about a great house across the street from Willard School.
"Willard School is probably Evanstons most popular school. I think there are other schools that are excellent, but if you’re into ratings, Willard is the one."
