Driver in Crash That Injured 1 in Evanston Charged
Police say Dawan D. Williams slammed his car into a tree while another man was leaning into the window.

EVANSTON, IL - The driver in the traffic crash that critically injured a 20-year-old Evanston man at Pitner Avenue and Nathaniel Place on Sunday has been charged with multiple felonies.
Police allege 19-year-old Dawan D. Williams - of the 1800 block of Grey Avenue in Evanston - drove his vehicle into a tree while the 20-year-old was leaning into the window, causing the 20-year-old to be ejected from the car and into a light pole.

Williams attempted to flee, according to police, but was detained by two bystanders until authorities arrived. He is now charged with reckless conduct, leaving the scene of an accident with injury and operation of uninsured motor vehicle.
The victim remains in critical condition at Presence Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston. Police have been unable to interview him.
