Evanston Among Best Suburbs For Food-Lovers

EVANSTON, IL — Evanston is the only Illinois town and one of only a few midwestern suburbs to make a new list of the "country's best suburbs for people who love food." The website Thrillist picked 11 suburbs for the list, and highlighted eight great Evanston eateries in its nationwide round-up.

"It wasn't terribly long ago," the list notes, "there wasn't much reason to cross Howard and head into Evanston unless you were looking to observe socially awkward Northwestern students in their natural habitat."

But things have changed, and now there's a numerous excellent dining destinations along the Purple Line.

Thrillist mentions Edzo's"gorgeously griddled" burgers, the "refined rusticness" of Found, the porcine indulgence of The Peckish Pig, the "fantastic" cocktails of Ward 8, the classic Chicken Shack, neighborhood institution Bennison's Bakery and lots of great international cuisine like Claire's Korner and 527 Cafe.
