Evanston Teen Caught Breaking Into Home Wednesday Night: Cops

A 13-year-old boy faces multiple charges following the incident on Pioneer Road.

A 13-year-old boy from Evanston is charged with multiple offenses after he was allegedly caught burglarizing a home in the 2300 block of Pioneer Road Wednesday night.

Police were called to the home at 8:10 p.m., when they were informed by the resident the offender ran out the rear door. Three subjects were seen leaving the area on bicycles, one of which matched the description given by the victim.

The subject that matched the description fled from the officer on foot, but was taken into custody after a brief foot chase in the 2100 block of Darrow Avenue. Found on his possession were two credit cards that were reported stolen in a burglary to vehicle incident in January.

The boy is charged with one count of residential burglary, one count of criminal damage to property, one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of credit cards. He was transported to the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center as a result of the arrest.
