Evanston Wine Walk Names Curt's Cafe As 2026 Nonprofit Partner

A portion of proceeds from the Sept. 10 event in the Main-Dempster district will support Curt's Cafe programs.

EVANSTON, IL — Curt's Cafe has been selected as the nonprofit partner for the 2026 Evanston Wine Walk.

The Main-Dempster Mile announced the partnership Tuesday, saying the donation will support Curt's Cafe's mission to provide workforce training, mentoring and life-skills development for young adults facing barriers to employment. The event is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, throughout the neighborhood business district.

Hosted by the Main-Dempster Mile, the annual Wine Walk features wine tastings, small bites, live music and shopping at locally owned businesses across the district. Guests will sample wines at businesses along Main Street, Dempster Street and Chicago Avenue while visiting the shopping and dining area. Tickets are available through Eventbrite.

The Main-Dempster Mile said the event partners each year with a local nonprofit and shares a portion of proceeds in recognition of that group's impact in the community. This year's partner, Curt's Cafe, was founded in Evanston in 2012 and uses a cafe-based training model to provide hands-on workforce development, employment readiness skills and personal support.

“Curt’s Cafe exemplifies the spirit of community investment that makes Evanston such a special place,” said Katherine Gotsick, Executive Director of the Main-Dempster Mile. “Their commitment to helping young adults build confidence, skills, and career pathways creates lasting change for individuals and families. We are honored to support their work through this year’s Wine Walk.”

Niki Moe, development director of Curt's Cafe, said the partnership will help fund programs and broaden awareness of the organization's work.

“We are deeply grateful to the Main-Dempster Mile for choosing Curt’s Cafe as this year’s nonprofit partner,” said Niki Moe, Development Director of Curt’s Cafe. “This partnership not only provides critical financial support for our programs but also raises awareness of the opportunities and potential of the young people we serve. We look forward to joining the community for a wonderful evening.”

Both organizations are also seeking volunteers to help run the event. For volunteer opportunities, the announcement directs people to contact Moe at niki@curtscafe.org. Community members are encouraged to attend, support local businesses and support Curt's Cafe's mission through the event.
