Evanston Won't Endorse Rauner's Turnaround Plan
City's rules committee won't endorse a resolution supporting Governor's agenda for collective bargaining.

Aldermen on the city of Evanston’s Rules Committee voted unanimously Monday against backing a resolution of support for Gov. Bruce Rauner’s turnaround agenda, the Evanston Review reports.
Rauner is seeking cities and villages throught the state to pass similar legilation that backs the undoing of what he calls a “one size fits all” approach to collective bargaining for local governments. The proposal would allow voters or local governments to determine if certain topics should be excluded from collective bargaining.
Strong opposition to the resolution arose from the audience, with some 50 members of the labor community urging the council to reject the measure.
