Harrison Street House Fire Under Investigation

Friday afternoon fire that displaced homeowners took nearly two hours to contain.

Fire officials are investigating what caused a late Friday afternoon house fire in Evanston that took companies from eight departments nearly two hours to get under control.

No injuries were reported, but the homeowners - who were not home at the time - will be displaced.

Evanston fire companies were first called to the structure fire in the 2800 block of Harrison Street shortly before 4 p.m. and reported heavy fire in the rear second floor bathroom. After venting through a window and extending into the attic space of the house - the blaze was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm, fire officials said.
