House Move Withstands Snafu; Relocation to Dodge Avenue Complete

An early snafu didn’t keep the home near an Evanston Township High School classroom from making its final destination at 1820 Dodge Avenue.

Earlier reports indicated the move - which was scheduled to be completed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday - had a delayed start because equipment froze up and a crane mechanic was summoned to make necessary repairs.

The house first went east on Lake Street, then north on Dodge Ave.

The move included having to relocate two sections of the house.

“Congratulations to the new 1820 Dodge. Great job to all involved,” the Evanston Police Department tweeted Tuesday afternoon.
