Improperly Issued Demolition Permit

I really love the athletic campus and its destruction brings me to tears. I wish that politicians and university leaders, cared as much as I do. I have been working with others to try to prevent and stop this. We are working out of love for treasures and because saving treasures is best for the university and the community. We are also concerned about concerts.

We were told by the city and the university that the demolition wouldn’t happen without the concerts. A certain government official told me specifically that if there are no concerts, “there will be no new stadium; they’ll just rehab the old one.” But the city and the university are proceeding with demolition anyways, without waiting to see if there will be concerts or not. The Most Livable City Association lawsuit may still cancel the concerts.

Also, we were told if the demolition were to proceed, at the earliest, it would be in March or April. This is because of Right of Way permit laws. All the water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer connections are required to be sealed off at their mains prior to demolition. https://www.cityofevanston.org... The electricity and the gas are required to be turned off as well. https://www.cityofevanston.org...

One must open the street or improved alley to seal the water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer at their mains. (Note, there are some private mains on the athletic campus, but this does not cover all the required shutoffs). This is different than the water main shutoff valve, which isn’t actually at the main, but in the parkway.

The city has allowed demolition to proceed without shutting off the utilities as required. This document from the city clerk’s office says so.

This demolition destroys what is special in the city. It must stop. What was demolished must be rebuilt as it was before.

Realmente amo al plantel atlético y su destrucción me trae a lágrimas. Que los políticos y administrativos universitarios lo querían tanto como yo. He trabajado con otros para prevenir y parar esto. Estamos trabajando por amor de tesoros y porque salvar a tesoros es lo mejor para la universidad y la comunidad. Estamos preocupados también sobre los conciertos.
