The City of Evanston will sponsor a local event in honor of Chicagoland Car Free Day on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Evanston residents will be avoiding traffic and parking headaches this Wednesday as they participate in Chicagoland Car-Free Day.
The event encourages people to leave their cars at home and instead walk, ride a bike, or take public transit to school or work. Those participating are encouraged to sign a pledge to go car-free at http://www.activetrans.org/carfree.
The City of Evanston will host a promotional event from 6-9 a.m. and a rally at 8 a.m. at the 909 Davis building. The rally will feature free food and drinks and bike check-ups.

The event is sponsored by the City of Evanston, the Active Transportation Alliance, Downtown Evanston, REI, Turin Bicycle and Whole Foods. Paid for by a federal Energy Conservation & Community Block Grant.
