LoSasso and Adams-Agresti win the IHSA Tennis Sectional Tournament

On Saturday, May 18 Beacon Academy's No. 1 doubles tandem of Jude LoSasso, and Luca Adams-Agresti won the Hinsdale South Sectionals earning an automatic bid this week's IHSA State Championships. The dynamic duo won four straight matches without losing a single set to win the tournament. They came in as a sixth seed.

This tandem had only played together a handful of times prior to this weekend. They didn't have much evidence on paper to earn a top seed, but were able to convince the committee that they were worthy of a 6th seed.

Regardless of the seed, the duo was aware that they had to win two matches on Friday to advance to state. The day's mantra was one at a time. The two competitors came out hot out of the gates defeated the second doubles team from Hinsdale South 6-2, 6-0. In the quarterfinal round, they easily defeated the No. 3 tandem from Nazareth Academy 6-3, 6-0.

This is when dreams became a reality. The pair earned a bid to the semifinals and the state championships.

On Saturday, LoSasso and Adams-Agresti disposed of the Two-Seeded pair from DePaul College Prep 6-3, 6-1 advancing them to the school's first ever doubles finals. The No. 1 team from host Hinsdale South awaited.

This would prove to be the hardest test of the weekend, and Beacon overcame an exhausting match winning 6-2, 7-6 (4) tie breaker. Beacon's tandem overcame Love-40 three times in the final set to send it to a tiebreaker. They would eventually win 7-4 in the extra set.

This is the first time Beacon has competed in this Sectional Tournament location. There were many unknowns heading into the event including the majority of the opponents. Three teams from the Vernon Hills Sectionals had been transferred to Hinsdale South this post-season.

The IHSA State Championships will take place this Thursday, May 24 with the Final round on Saturday, May 26 at Palatine High School.
