Major Crime Down in Evanston, Police Show

Overall crime in 2014 may have been a tad higher than the year before, but there's a big decrease in crimes against persons.

Overall crime in Evanston was up by more than half a percent from the year before in 2014 despite a 20.8 percent decrease in crimes against persons.

Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan presented figures from last year in offenses that are reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Evanston Now reports.

Categories that saw decreases from 2013 to 2014 include robbery, aggravated battery and burglary, while an increase in traffic accidents was reported.
