Natural Gas Mains Will Be Replaced in Evanston

EVANSTON, IL - New natural gas mains will be installed in some Evanston neighborhoods beginning this month.

Nicor Gas will begin installing the new mains on Monday, April 18 at 1335 Asbury Ave., 800-1106 Dempster St., 1225-1570 Elmwood Ave., 900-1227 Greenwood St., 900-1115 Grove St., 1202-1323 Maple Ave., 1239-1555 Oak Ave., 1202-1240 Sherman Ave.

In May, a Nicor subcontractor will install a new natural gas line that will connect all these properties to the natural gas main. In June, another subcontractor will coordinate with residents on setting up times to move their natural gas meter outside and reconfigure inside piping.

The process is part of Nicor's "Investing in Illinois: A Nicor Gas System Improvement Initiative."
