North Shore Parents Talk White Privilege In 'Race Bait' Podcast
Evanston woman, Wilmette man "talk about racism so you can too" in upcoming live recording at Steppenwolf.

From Steppenwolf Look Out Series: Local performers Tania Richard and Paul Traynor will bring their Race Bait podcast to Steppenwolf Theatre for a live performance on Monday, July 16th at 7 p.m. Race Bait will be featured as part of Steppenwolf’s LookOut Series, which is billed as “a venue for emerging artists and performance legends...familiar Steppenwolf faces and new friends.”
Race Bait, now in its second season, features difficult conversations about racism approached with “humor and generosity of spirit.” Richard (a Black woman) and Traynor (a White man) are veteran Chicago writers and performers who relish spontaneous, sharp and honest discussions. Race Bait’s tagline is,"She's Black. He’s White. They talk about racism so you can too.”
According to Traynor, “At some point we all have to talk about racism whether it’s in person or as a society. Kindness and humor make it much easier to see our shared humanity no matter what color we are.” Richard says, “We introduce ourselves to the elephant in the room and ask it to sit down and have coffee.”
