Overnight Police Chase Lands Felony Charges for Chicago Man

Brief chase early Wednesday led Wilmette officers through several village streets.

A Chicago man led Wilmette police on a brief chase early Wednesday morning that came to a head when he was trapped in a parking lot in the 400 block of Skokie Court.

According to a Wilmette police report, Adam L. Gonzalez, Jr., 24, was being stopped at 2:09 a.m. in the 1500 block of Lake Ave. for traffic violations. He refused to stop for officers, travelling westbound on Lake Ave., then southbound on Ridge Road, westbound on Wilmette Ave., southbound on Skokie Road and eastbound on Skokie Court before being trapped.

“Contact with the driver revealed that the driver was under the influence of drugs,” according to the report. “The driver resisted arrest and after arresting, suspect cannabis and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle. The driver was transported to the police department where he refused to submit a blood and urine sample.”

Gonzalez now faces felony charges for aggravated fleeing and eluding. He is also charged with resisting arrest, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and additional traffic citations.
