Owner of Evanston's Sarkis Cafe Sues Her Brother Over His Restaurant

Scott Jaffe is opening a diner in Highland Park, but his sister thinks he's trading on her reputation.

A brother and sister food fight has landed in court, with the owner of the Sarkis Cafe in Evanston suing her brother over plans to open a diner in Highland Park. Marla Cramin claims her brother, Scott Jaffe, is trading on the Sarkis Cafe’s reputation and misleading people into thinking their restaurants are related.

affe is opening a restaurant called Order Up Diner in downtown Highland Park. Cramin wants her brother to pay him a share of profits won through the alleged misrepresentation of his business as connected to Sarkis.

“I’m OK with him opening a restaurant,” Cramin told the Chicago Tribune. “He just can’t open a Sarkis.” She said she believes they will mend their relationship once this is settled.
