PARCC Refusals Could Mean Lost Revenue for District 65
School estimates more than 5 percent of its students in grades 3-8 have refused to take the assessment.

More than 600 PARCC tests have been refused in Evanston/Skokie School District 65, which could come at quite a cost for the district.
Preliminary estimates, according to Evanston Now, indicate the district could be in danger of losing up to $7 million in state funds due to the refusal of a small number of students to take the state-mandated exams. The number of refused students is much lower than the number of tests that have been refused because some are offered to take it up to five times.
The rate has been higher than 5 percent, though.

According to a letter sent by Superintendent Paul Goren before testing began, if more than 5 percent of students in grades 3-8 do not take the assessment, the district will “fail to meet its state accountability”and potentially lose up to $7 million.
