At packed meetings at Haven and Nichols, parents questioned whether promised savings are real, worried about losing walkable neighborhood schools, and pressed leaders to be clearer about trade-offs between fewer schools and better facilities.
   

5. Biss, Elleson make their national scripts local in first congressional forum (evanstonroundtable.com) — Evanston residents heard how congressional candidates Daniel Biss and John Elleson would handle immigration enforcement and a controversial proposed data center in town, which both tied to local safety and revenue concerns. Biss criticized ICE's recent detention of an Evanston resident and called for a national moratorium on data centers, while Elleson emphasized enforcing immigration laws and suggested the data center could help plug city and District 65 budget gaps.
