Problems with Northwestern campaign

The whole process was conducted with a series of shortcuts, lies, and bad intentions by its proponents. Northwestern says that the concerts are necessary for the project, that the project won’t happen without concerts. There is a good chance the concerts won’t happen given the Most Livable City Association lawsuit and a possible lawsuit by Wilmette. We won’t know the outcome of this lawsuit and possible lawsuit for a while. Yet, Northwestern is still proceeding even though the concerts may likely be stopped, so the proponents of the destruction were lying! Northwestern was given priority on everything, over all our concerts, and they were given shortcuts, and everything they did was taken at an express pace. The things we did weren’t taken at an express pace.

We were told that there was a three-month moratorium on demolition and that the demolition would begin at the earliest in March or April. Now, suddenly, they say it is beginning in a few days. A shortcut was taken by the proponents. Even if it was just something about truck traffic regulations during the winter, has has been suggested, still the proponents took a shortcut and spread misinformation. This maneuver caused us great harm.

Stop the destruction of the Northwestern athletic campus! The athletic campus is a beautiful, irreplaceable community treasure. Northwestern proposes to destroy Ryan Field including the practice field, Wildcat Alley (the field and the lane), Wildcat Avenue, Walker Way, parts of McGaw Memorial Hall, the N Zone, landscaping, much of the parking lots, 1515 Central, and part of the Sharon J. Drysdale Field. It destroys our link with the past and current assets. It destroys our future. It destroys Native American homeland, ancestral burials, and archeological artifacts.
