'Scandal' Star Will Be Grand Marshal of Northwestern Homecoming Parade
Some may remember Wildcat alum George Newbern from the 1990s hit "Father of the Bride."
EVANSTON, IL - George Newbern, who stars in the ABC hit series “Scandal,” will serve as the grand marshal of the Northwestern University Homecoming parade on Friday.
Newbern will lead the parade beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 at Sheridan Road and Lincoln Street, according to an Evanston Now report. The parade route will follow south to Chicago Avenue.
Newbern is a Northwestern alum who first earned a role in the national spotlight for his co-starring role as Bryan MacKenzie in the 1991 hit film “Father of the Bride.”

In addition to “Scandal,” Newbern has had television roles on “Friends,” “Nip/Tuck” and “Designing Women.”
The parade in Evanston will be followed by a pep rally at the Deering Meadow beginning at 6:45 p.m.
