'Shakespeare by Design' Exhibit Opens at Noyes
Exhibit showing the design of modern works influenced by William Shakespeare is one of hundreds marking the 400th anniversary of his death.

EVANSTON, IL - Hundreds of celebrations throughout Chicagoland are planned this year to mark the 400th anniversary of legendary playwright William Shakespeare’s death, and one in Evanston focuses solely on the design of modern-day Shakespearean works.
The “Shakespeare by Design” exhibit premiered at the Noyes Cultural Center on Sunday and will run through May 9. According to the Daily Northwestern, the exhibit will feature lighting, costume, set and other designs that have been used to create modern Shakespearean works that have played at several Chicago-area venues.
Material will be showcased from the Chicago Shakespeare Theater and Mudlark Theater among others.

The Noyes exhibit is one of 800 or so planned in the Chicago region to celebrate the 400th anniversary of The Bard’s death. The set of events, the “Shakespeare 400 Chicago series” is the largest celebration of Shakespeare’s legacy in the world.
