Shimmering Summer at Chicago Botanic Garden is Evanescent

The giant sphere and bubble sculptures at the Chicago Botanic Garden are part of the Evanescent installation by Atelier Sisu, featured in Shimmering Summer.

The Sculptures are a monumental, iridescent, bubble-like spheres soaring up to 24 to 25 feet tall that reflect the sky, plants, and visitors in shifting rainbow colors.

Photographer George LeClaire of Glenview, who took this photo on June 7, 2026, said, “The installation is a photographer’s dream.” He added the colors are constantly changing with the weather and changing sky.

The exhibit runs through September 20, 2026.
