Sons of the Silent Age Concert Benefits Cancer Patients

Sons of the Silent Age Concert Benefits Patients of NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center

On Saturday, January 6, 2018, Sons of the Silent Age will perform The Best of David Bowie’s “Berlin” Trilogy & More at the Metro in Chicago. A portion of proceeds will benefit NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center patients by providing Integrative Medicine therapies.

Tickets are on sale now through metrochicago.com//etix.com. General admission tickets are $20 in advance, $22 at the door with VIP tickets also available. Doors open at 7 p.m.; Show is at 8 p.m. Sons of the Silent Age boasts nine members culled from the absolute elite of Chicago musicians. SOTSA formed when Chris Connelly (Revolting Cocks, Ministry) and Matt Walker (Filter, Smashing Pumpkins and Morrissey’s band) joined forces in 2012 to pay tribute to their hero David Bowie.

The NorthShore Integrative Medicine program provides relief to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. The alternative therapies relieve pain and neuropathies, reduce fatigue and sleep issues, boost immunity, provide stress relief, improve appetite and improve quality of life. Bowie himself lost his battle to liver cancer in 2016; and NorthShore cancer patient Anna Crowley of Lake Forest knows all too well the struggles against cancer.

When the Waukegan High School teacher was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, she knew she had to take a different approach to protecting her already compromised immune system. At the start of the school year, she approached NorthShore Integrative Medicine Medical Director Leslie Mendoza Temple, MD, to develop a personalized integrative medicine plan.

By combining traditional medicine with complementary and alternative therapies, Dr. Mendoza Temple recommended supplements and integrative approaches to optimize Crowley’s immunity. She was able to withstand treatment while continuing to teach, and did so while maintaining her overall health, considering her rigorous course of chemotherapy and radiation. “I give Dr. Mendoza Temple credit for keeping me well. With my school district’s backing and NorthShore’s immunity boosters, I made it through,” says Crowley.
