Three Men Charged With Murder Of Andrew Williams In Evanston

Police said an Evanston man and two brothers from Sauk Village are behind last month's fatal shooting of the 29-year-old Evanston resident.

EVANSTON, IL — Three men accused of murdering Evanston man in front of his home last month were ordered held without bond Sunday, police said.

Andrew Williams, 29, was shot multiple times on the sidewalk in the 1900 block of Hartrey Avenue around 3 p.m. on July 26, according to Evanston police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The Evanston Fire Department rushed him to Evanston Hospital, where he was pronounced dead within the hour.

Ronald Green, 23, of the 1700 block of Central Street in Evanston, Tyree Hooper, 22, and Terrance Hooper, 23, both of the 2800 block of 223rd Place in Sauk Village, were arrested Friday on first-degree murder charges, according to police. The two Hoopers are brothers.

Two masked men got out of a car, shot Williams several times and fled. According to Cmdr. Brian Henry, the three men arrested include both gunmen and the getaway driver.

Video surveillance, forensic analysis and interviews with witnesses all contributed to the charges against the three men, police said.

Williams' killing came a day after the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Deshawn Turner just a couple blocks away in the 2200 block of Emerson Street.

Henry said investigators have not determined the relationship between the two homicide victims.

"Investigators are still actively working the case," he said. "Anyone who does have any information, we encourage them to contact us."

The three men are due back in court in Skokie Tuesday, Henry said.
