Woman Arrested In Iowa Over Robberies Of Pizza Delivery Drivers

The Evanston woman and her two roommates allegedly put a gun to one driver's head and briefly kidnapped another last month.

EVANSTON, IL — A woman who fled the state after allegedly carrying out multiple armed robberies of pizza delivery drivers last month in Evanston was arrested last week and faces more than half a dozen felony charges. A pair of Evanston men, who police said were her accomplices, had already been arrested and charged in the case.

Alexis H. King, 32, was taken into custody by Evanston police around midnight at a police station in Dubuque, Iowa. She's accused of taking part in the armed robbery of a delivery driver on Feb. 6 and attacking, robbing and briefly kidnapping another driver on Feb. 13 before crashing his car in the snow fleeing on foot, along with with Daniel L. Jones, 26, and Mario Rucker, 19. All three share the same address in the 1800 block of Hovland Court.

On Feb. 6, police said King and the two men robbed a pizza delivery driver they encountered in the 2100 block of Foster. Jones reportedly pointed a gun at the drivers head, and the trio fled with $500 in cash, a wallet and a cell phone.

Just over a week later, they allegedly targeted another driver. Police said King flagged down a 69-year-old deliveryman in the 1800 block of Darrow and restrained him as the two men robbed him at gunpoint, taking $20 in cash, his IDs and pizzas. Police said they wanted more, so they made the driver get back in the car. The robbers allegedly planned to drive him to an ATM to withdraw cash, but his car got stuck in the snow as they drove down an alley before the robbers fled on food.

King was charged with armed robbery in connection with the Feb. 6 incident. She was charged with armed robbery, aggravated vehicular hijacking, aggravated battery, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and two counts of aggravated kidnapping for her alleged role in the Feb. 13 incident.

Another incident in which she is suspected of taking part did not result in criminal charges. Prior to the report of the Feb. 6 robbery, three people tried to get into the car of a woman parked in the 1600 block of Simpson Street. King had reportedly told the two men to rob the woman as she walked her dog but she managed to drive away unharmed.

The next court appearances for Jones and Rucker were scheduled for March 26. Rucker has not been charged in connection with the Feb. 13 kidnapping on Darrow Avenue. The pair had previous been convicted of theft in Iowa for allegedly robbing clothes from a juvenile. At the time of his arrest, Rucker was wanted in Iowa for allegedly violating his parole.

According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, King is currently on parole since 2016 after being convicted of setting fire to a home knowing people are inside and aggravated battery to police in Cook County, aggravated battery causing harm to police officer in Livingston County and a DeKalb County charge related to a stolen car.

King was being held at Cook County Jail Wednesday in lieu of 10 percent of a $150,000 bond. Her bail was set at $75,000 in a separate armed robbery case. She is due back in court March 30 in Skokie.
