Authorities Rule Death of Calumet Park 1-Month-Old a Homicide

Robert Jamal Phipps, of Calumet Park, suffered from injuries caused by child abuse, an autopsy revealed Wednesday.

Officials are investigating the parents of a 1-month-old Calumet Park boy whose death was ruled a homicide Wednesday, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report.

Robert Jamal Phipps, of the 1200 block of West 127th Street, died from various injuries caused from child abuse, the report stated. He was pronounced dead at 5:07 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at a Blue Island hospital, the report added.

The boy’s parents had been investigated for inadequate supervision of another child, who is with other relatives and being monitored by the Department of Child and Family Services, the report stated.
