Chicago Man Stabbed At Evergreen Park Residence: Police

One man in custody after early Sunday morning stabbing in 9300 block of South Springfield, cops say.

A North Side man was reportedly stabbed to death in Evergreen Park early Sunday morning.

Evergreen Park police responded to a call of a stabbing in the 9300 block of South Springfiled Avenue around 1:04 a.m., according to a police news release.

Lucian Nicolaescu, 31, of the 4800 block of North Winthrop Avenue in Chicago, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center at 8:10 a.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Upon their arrival, police learned that a 31-year-old man had been stabbed at a residence. A preliminary investigation at the scene determined that the victim and a 39-year-old man had reportedly gotten into an argument that escalated.

The 39-year-old man was still at the scene when officers arrived. He was taken into custody and charges are pending, police said. The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is assisting Evergreen Park police detectives in the investigation.
