Chicago Police Plan Roadside Safety Check in Morgan Park

Roadside safety check will take place from Friday through Saturday, Aug. 29-30.

So that it doesn’t come as a surprise, the Chicago Police Department will conduct a “Roadside Safety Check” in the Morgan Park (22nd) District at 10456 S. Halsted.

The Roadside Safety Check will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 29 and end at 3 a.m. on Saturday, August 30.

During roadside safety checks, police officers slow down traffic, stop cars at regular intervals and watch for drivers who show signs of alcohol impairment and other violations as noted below.

“This program is conducted year round to ensure drivers are operating their vehicles safely,” said Superintendent, Garry F. McCarthy. “This is part of an ongoing strategy to keep the city streets safe for Chicago’s residents and commuters.”

The Roadside Safety Check conducted in the South Chicago (4th) District on August 22-23, resulted in 36 violations, including:
