ComEd Warns Excessive Heat May Cause Power Outages
Commonwealth Edison is asking customers to manage energy use efficiently during excessive heat to avoid brownouts and power outages.

The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for the Chicago region, with temperatures climbing into the high 90s, and a heat index of 100-degrees-plus on Tuesday.
Power usage will be at its peak as residents and businesses cool off with air conditioners, possibly causing brownouts or power outages in Oak Lawn.
ComEd encourages customers manage energy use efficiently while keeping cool during the heat.
- Cool only the rooms in use
- Run appliances like the dishwasher and washing machine at night.
Subscribers to ComEd outage alerts can quickly report an outage by texting "OUT" to 26633. You will also receive notifications when an outage has been reported at your address, and get ongoing updates as the status of your outage changes.

Need a place to cool off? The Evergreen Center is open during the heat for those without air conditioning, at 3450 W. 97th St., Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Please also check on elderly loved ones and neighbors.
