Cops Find 616 Pills of Ecstasy in Felon's Home: Prosecutor
Controlled drug buy leads Evergreen Park police to man's home where pills, pot and a loaded 9mm are found, prosecutor says.

Evergreen Park cops found 600 hits of ecstasy in a man’s home after an undercover controlled buy, prosecutors said in court on Thursday.
Jamaal Baylis, 34, appeared at a bond hearing where he on assorted drug and weapon charges.

Prosecutors said that around 8:06 p.m., August 5, Baylis met an Evergreen Park police officer, who was working undercover, for a pre-arranged drug transaction outside an apartment building in the 9500 block of South Pulaski Road.

Baylis was taken into custody after the purchase of eight ecstasy pills and four grams of cannabis. Officers also searched Baylis’s Chicago home in the 6500 block of South Artesian, according to the charges.
Prosecutors said that police found 616 pills of ecstasy (186.2 grams) and 481.7 grams of cannabis in Baylis’s home in the 6500 block of South Artesian Avenue, Chicago.
A loaded 9mm handgun with six live rounds and another high capacity magazine with 29 rounds of live ammunition were also found in his residence, according to information from Evergreen Park police.
Baylis was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, all felonies. He is also charged with misdemeanor cannabis possession.
According to Illinois Department of Corrections records, Baylis is currently out on parole for unspecified charges.
Baylis’s first name is also spelled “Jamal” in some records.
Bail for Baylis was set at $210,000. He is due back in court on September 15.
