Entire EPCHS Mathletes Team Headed to State!

​The EPCHS Mathletes recently competed in Regionals at SXU and took 1st Place Overall.

The Evergreen Park Community High School Mathletes recently competed in Regionals at St. Xavier University. The team took 1st Place overall beating our neighbor Mother McAuley! This means that the ENTIRE EPCHS TEAM has qualified for the State Contest. "This is our first time placing first at Regionals and qualifying the entire team for the State Contest. This was truly a team effort and a team win. I am so proud of our Mathletes!" said Head Coach Maria Vinci. Assistant Mathletes Coach Jamie Pembroke said, "I am very happy for our Mathletes. Winning the Regional against very tough competition is a very proud moment for the entire EPCHS community."

The Regional results are:

· The Junior Algebra II Team took 1st! Congratulations to Liam Duffy, Colin Brennan, Liam Kantzler, Brooke Scanlon, CJ Kompare, and Cameron Dunlap. Individuals who placed as well are: Colin placed 1st and Liam D. placed 2nd.

· The Senior Precalculus Team took 1st! Congratulations to Kayla Benson, Hannah Rahm, Angela Bosch, Sinead Doogan, and Matt Miglieri. In addition, Kayla placed 1st and Matt placed 2nd as individuals.

· The Junior/Senior 8-Person Team placed 1st! Way to go Liam Duffy, Liam Kantzler, Colin Brennan, Brooke Scanlon, Angela Bosch, CJ Kompare, Kayla Benson, and Hannah Rahm.

· The Calculator Team of Molly Miller, Cate Rech, Cameron Dunlap, Hannah Rahm, and Matt Miglieri placed 2nd.

· Colin Brennan and Liam Duffy placed 1st in the Junior/Senior 2-Person Team.

· Kayla Benson and Sinead Doogan placed 1st for their Oral Presentation on Inequalities.

Senior Hannah Rahm said, "Mathletes is exciting and I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of it for all four years in my high school career. Taking first at contest was absolutely amazing and I’m so thankful to have been a part of it! State is always lots of fun, but this year I’m excited to be going based on our 1st Place finish at Regionals."

On Saturday, May 4, the EPCHS Mathletes will compete in the State Contest at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
