EP Youths Create Valentines For Vets

Another wonderful program from the Evergreen Park Youth Department

The Evergreen Park Youth Department recently hosted a three-day “Valentines for Veterans” service project that attracted plentiful groups of young folks into the Youth Room to participate.

The Youth Department is located in the Community Center, 3450 W. 97th Street.

Students and their families were invited to visit and then create Valentines which were mailed to United States Representative Sean Casten for his 2025 Valentines For Veterans Program.

“We are incredibly grateful to our Evergreen Park youths for their excitement and involvement,” said Youth Director Pyeisha Allen. “They were so willing and happy to spend the time designing cards and writing notes to the Veterans, thanking them for their service.”

The Youth Department is also busy at work with their monthly “Creative Hour” program. Youths joined instructor Tribble in the Community Center last Thursday to work on fabric Valentines.

“The Creative Hour program has been a great success,” Ms. Pyeisha continued. “We are here again on Thursday, March 13 to do a “Pot of Gold” craft just in time for St. Patrick’s Day!”

That event begins at 4:30pm. Registration can be done by calling the Youth Department at
(708) 229-3377, or by visiting the Youth Room.

The Creative Hour will continue through May as a result of the high demand for the monthly program.

The Youth Room is open daily from 3pm to 6pm, available for Evergreen Park youths from grades 5 to 12. Ms. Pyeisha and her staff are always at work on fun projects and field trips.

“We listen to our kids and follow up on doing some of the things that they have expressed interest in doing. We have a fun, safe haven for them after school and they love their time here.”
