EPCHS Alum In The Spotlight: Dave McCarthy, Class Of 1989
A longtime sales leader in information technology, Dave McCarthy's newest role is with Google.

A proud Evergreen Park Community High School graduate is a leader for one of the most well-known companies in the world.
Dave McCarthy, EPCHS Class of 1989, has been a sales leader at Google since June, and has been working in the information technology industry since graduating from the University of Illinois in the early 1990s.
“I run a sales team that sells the whole Google portfolio,” McCarthy said. “Specifically, we sell that portfolio to hospitals and insurance companies in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Minnesota.”

Google is easily regarded as one of the most powerful brands in the world. But it’s much more than just a really popular search engine, McCarthy explains.
“There’s so much more to Google,” he said. “Google is trying to change the world for the better, and for us that’s leveraging every ounce of our tech to reduce costs and improve patient outcomes and healthcare equity.”

Google partners with a variety of companies to modernize the world, save consumers money and make everything more energy efficient, McCarthy said.
“Everything Google does is to be carbon efficient, and an eye toward a green environment,” he said.
Although McCarthy is making a difference on a global level, he didn’t need to move too far from Evergreen Park to do it. Now living “a whopping two miles west” in Oak Lawn, McCarthy has been a resident of the south suburbs his entire adult life.
He was a sales leader at his last three jobs, including an 8-year stint at Dell Technologies before he moved to Google’s Chicago office.
His roots are right here in Evergreen Park, having attended Northwest Elementary School, Central Middle School and EPCHS.
“An incredibly awesome four years,” is how McCarthy describes his time as a Mustang student.
McCarthy said he was in the first-ever advanced placement course offered at EPCHS. A four-year member of the school’s basketball and baseball teams, McCarthy was also involved in Student Government, yearbook, Mathletes, and scholastic bowl.
He is married to his wife, Mary. The couple have three children: Molly, Maggie and Brendan.
