EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The most oft-asked questions on neighborhood social media concern garbage collection, especially with the recent change in waste haulers.

Can I leave a mattress at the curb on my collection day? How do I get rid of my old TV? What do I do with all the leftover paint cans in my garage?

Flood Brothers, the new garbage collector, and the Village of Evergreen Park offer these reminders for bewildered residents:

Bulk Items

Bulk items weighing less than 50 pounds will be collected each week on your collection day at no additional charge. Examples of bulk items include mattresses, box springs, small tables, chairs, and other small furniture. For bulk items weighing more than 50 pounds, please call Flood Brothers at 630-261-0400 at least 48 hours prior to schedule a special pick-up.

Electronic Recycling

Weekly collection will be provided for electronic recyclables. Residents must contact Flood Brothers at 630-261-0400 48 hours before collection day to schedule a pick-up.

Household Hazardous Waste

Residents are required to contact Flood Brothers at 630-261-0400 when possible hazardous waste material may need to be disposed of at least 48 hours in advance of collection. Examples of hazardous waste items include paint, pesticides, poison, cleaning solvents, oil, gasoline, and other automotive fluids. Flood Brothers will work with residents to find the best solution for disposal with the assistance of Cook County Recycling Programs.
