Menards Set To Open April 30

Just in time for summer, the new Menards is set to open next Tuesday in Evergreen Park.

The much-anticipated store at 9100 S. Western Ave. (91^st Street and Western Avenue) is the culmination of an ambitious redevelopment plan of the former Evergreen Country Club golf course.

Menards is planning a soft opening while it fine tunes daily store operations.

“We’re happy to be in the community,” Juan Horton said, general manager for the Evergreen Park Menards. “We are thankful for all the positive comments we’ve heard about the store from people around town or stopping by.”

The new “mega-Menards” will carry a full array of high-quality, name brand merchandise for any type of home improvement project or contract job from building materials for building a deck, fence or new home, to tools, light bulbs, paint and household supplies.

The Evergreen Park Menards will also sell pet products, lawn and garden supplies and a line of convenience groceries for a one-stop shopping experience.

Menards spokesman Jeff Abbott would not comment on the Evergreen Park store’s square-footage or number of employees. Earlier village board meetings indicated a 200,000-sqaure-foot store that would employ about 150.

General Manager Horton said the store was set with its team, but would still be taking applications for future openings. He was not allowed to discuss but would only say that Menards' hired the "best qualified employees."

“We take a lot of pride in developing our team in solving day-to-day home issues and serving our regular contractors,” Horton said. “We’re always interested in talking to talented people. Menards is a great company.”

A nine-day grand opening celebration–that will include special deals on merchandise, prize giveaways, in-store demonstrations and celebrity appearances – will be announced at a later date.

Store hours are 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
