New 4-Way Stop on 89th Street
Trustees honored a petition signed by residents of the 8800 and 8900 blocks of Richmond Avenue requesting 89th Street and Richmond Avenue be a four-way stop.
Through a recent collaborative effort, residents were able to help make their blocks safer.
Trustees unanimously voted to honor the request of residents of the 8800 and 8900 blocks of Richmond Avenue and installed a 4-way stop at 89th Street and Richmond Avenue.
"They say most cars didn't slow down at the corners," said village clerk Catherine Aparo.

Connie Ruhl, a resident of the 8900 block of Richmond, said drivers wouldn't obey the yield sign on the southeast corner of the intersection. She along with 42 other residents signed the petition. The village replaced that yield sign with a stop sign and added new a stop sign on the northwest corner.
"I was really excited that these were up," Ruhl said, noting that "it's going to take some time" for drivers to adjust to the new stop signs.
