Bloomington Woman Wanted For Reckless Conduct In Burbank: Cops

Bloomington woman hit another car while fleeing a retail theft, Burbank detective said.

BURBANK, IL -- A Bloomington, IL woman is wanted on a reckless conduct charge after she allegedly hit another car fleeing a retail theft. Burbank detectives were in court seeking an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Marquaysha Brooks. She has a warrant out of Markham for failure to appear in court, the prosecutor said.

According to the Burbank detective, officers were called to a possible retail theft in progress on Nov. 13, 2017 at Carter’s Babies and Kids, 7719 S. Cicero Ave. in Burbank. Brooks and another woman were seen taking merchandise from the store, the detective said. The women were walking back to their car where they were spotted by arriving police officers.

When police approached, the detective said the car backed into a Mazda and then fled down Cicero Avenue. Officers were able to get the car’s plate number, which was registered to Brooks. The loss prevention officer picked Brooks out of a photo array, the detective said.

The officer went to the Markham courthouse on Dec. 31, 2017, but Brooks didn’t show up to court. An arrest warrant was issued. The judge issued an arrest warrant for $10,000.

In June 2016, Brooks was reported as a runaway according to Bloomington, IL police. Her family told police she have may been headed to Chicago. The teen was found in Bloomington a month later.
