Employees Safe After SUV Plows Into Regional News Office
Building will remain closed until deemed safe by the Palos Heights structural engineer.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL -- An SUV plowed into a newspaper office Thursday afternoon in Palos Heights. The building was occupied but there were no injuries. The city structural engineer was inspecting the building for damage.
Deputy Chief Bill Czajkowski the report of a vehicle driving into the Regional News office at 122nd Street and Harlem Avenue came in around 3 p.m. A woman in her 60s was backing up her SUV in the parking lot. Instead of braking, police believe the woman hit the accelerator. She was the only person in the car, according to a preliminary investigation.
Employees were evacuated and will not be allowed to return until the building until it is determined to be safe.

“Fortunately no one in the Regional News building was hurt,” Czajkowski said.
