Son Charged After Mom Found Dead In Garbage Can
An East Beverly man faces a first degree murder charge in the death of his 67-year-old mother.

CHICAGO – Chicago police have arrested a man in connection with the death of a 67-year-old woman who was found inside a garbage can placed in an alley in Morgan Park on Christmas Eve. Robert Wallace, 25, of the 10500 block of South Church Street faces a first degree murder charge in the death of the woman, whose body was found by city of Chicago Streets and Sanitation workers near 108th and Prospect on Christmas Eve. The victim has been identified as Betty Wallace, the mother of the suspect.
Robert Wallace is accused of stabbing his mother multiple times. A police report states that stab wounds were found on her lower legs, and police say she also suffered blunt trauma injuries to her face.

Police arrested Wallace in the same block of his listed address hours after the body was found.
According to a community alert from 19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea, he has "a history of abusive behavior towards his mother and has struggled with mental health issues. "
