Warrant issued for teen's arrest in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Aladin Jamaleddin, who was gunned down in front of his home in July,

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — An arrest warrant was issued for a Chicago teen in connection with a fatal shooting of an Evergreen Park man in front of his house in July. Nicholas Hernandez, 17, is wanted on a first-degree murder charge. Police think the shooting may have involved a drug transaction for Xanax.
Around 7:15 p.m. July 21, Evergreen Park police responded to a shots-fired call in the 9100 block of South St. Louis Avenue. A detective told Cook County Judge Mohammed Ghouse that when officers arrived, they found 25-year-old Aladin Jamaleddin on the ground and bleeding from his face.

After the shooting, Jamaleddin told his mother that he had been shot. Jamaleddin’s mother confronted her son’s assailant, who police said pointed a gun at her. The gunman left after the shooting in a Toyota Rav 4 driven by a woman, police said.
Jamaleddin was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead. Evergreen Park and South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force investigators discovered from the deceased man's cell phone that he had been in contact with someone about a Xanax sale.

The next day, July 22, police found the Rav 4 parked in the 8800 block of South Kilbourn Avenue. The vehicle was occupied by the female driver from the night before and two other individuals, police said. The woman told police she was present when Jamaleddin was shot, and the detective said she identified Hernandez as the shooter.
Police brought Hernandez into the station that same day for questioning. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office would not approve first-degree murder charges because of outstanding requests for Jamaleddin's cell phone records, and Hernandez was released without being charged.
The detective told the judge that officers went to Hernandez's parents' home in Oak Lawn, but were told that Hernandez no longer resides with his parents. He said Hernandez hangs out on 79th Street, where police said they believe he is a member of the Crazy Get Down Boys gang, but his current whereabouts are unknown.
“Before I issue a warrant, I need to know if any efforts have been made to locate him,” Ghouse said.
“We’re going to go after him,” the detective said.
“We are committed to charging him,” the prosecutor told Ghouse.
Hernandez was 16 at the time of the alleged shooting and is now 17. He will be charged as an adult, the prosecutor said.
According to court records, Hernandez has no prior criminal background.
The judge issued an arrest warrant was issued in the amount of $250,000.
