📰 News we're reading
1. Forest Park O'Hare Flyer event provides few answers (forestparkreview.com) — Forest Park officials and more than 150 residents packed a special village council meeting to grill O'Hare Flyer executives about a proposed high-speed airport train running through town. Locals pressed for concrete data on noise, safety, property values, and promised economic benefits, while commissioners and the mayor demanded far more transparency before considering changes that could significantly reshape Forest Park's neighborhoods and crossings.

2. Forest Park Middle School alumni reunite for homecoming weekend (forestparkreview.com) — Forest Park Middle School alumni returned for a homecoming weekend packed with games, a picnic at Miller Meadow, and plenty of hugs for longtime teacher Rebecca Ciardullo. Graduates swapped memories of the beloved all-school Forest Park picnic, while admission to the alumni basketball game collected over 100 food items for the Forest Park Food Bank and Kiwanis Club drive.

3. A centennial for Betsy Ross School (forestparkreview.com) — Betsy Ross School's roots in Forest Park stretch back to a 1925 cornerstone ceremony and a 1926 opening that promised a "gem" of a modern school for neighborhood children. A sixth-grader from Garfield School proposed the now-familiar name, and the building has since anchored education for Forest Parkers from Harvard to 22nd Street as it approaches its centennial.

4. Oak Park first responders join CTA reimbursement pact (oakpark.com) — Forest Park has already joined Oak Park, River Forest, and Rosemont in an agreement requiring the CTA to reimburse local police, fire, and EMS for responses at nearby rail stations. While Oak Park officials are still estimating revenue impacts, Forest Park residents can expect their village to receive per-call payments that help offset the cost of first responders at CTA-related incidents.
